newu covers all aspects of wellness (yoga, pilates, aerobics, etc) and is based out of Delaware and Columbus Ohio. It is close to Ohio Wesleyan and Grady Hospital.

Yoga / Pilates

Beginner Hatha Yoga: Find flexibility, mental focus and inner strength in this modified yoga class. In a very relaxed environment, our beginner level class is a perfect introduction for those new to the practice of Yoga. This class is also great for individuals recovering from injuries and surgical procedures, preparing for the birthing process during pregnancy, and learning to cope with chronic pains and illnesses. Suitable for beginner Yogis, we provide supervision and modifications to meet the different needs of every individual in class. All levels welcome.

 

Strength / Weight Training

Strength Training: Get ready to build some muscle in this non-cardio class. Inspired by the weight room, we'll focus on weight-resistance exercises to strengthen and tone muscles in the whole body. With fun props including balls, jump ropes, resistance bands, free weights and more, you'll be all pumped up in no time. Beginner/Intermediate levels.

 

Cardio / Strength Combination

Fat Burn Blend (Cardio, Yoga, Pilates & Strength): Get out of your workout rut with this combination class that YOU design! We'll alternate between cardio and aerobic exercises and strength, Pilates or Yoga segments to take your heart rate up and down - increasing your fitness level while BURNING MORE CALORIES! The strength training, Pilates and Yoga focus on arms, legs and abdominal muscles - to increase strength and flexibility. The cardio segments alternate between floor aerobics, kickboxing, step, sports drills and more - based on participant input! Perfect for ALL levels of fitness. Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced levels.

These classes are available as Private Classes:

Yoga Mix: Discover yourself through yoga as we explore various styles based on participant input! We'll tailor the class each week to meet your needs using Hatha, Vinyasa and/or Ashtanga Yoga, and focus on breathing, relaxation, strength and flexibility. Participants should feel comfortable working on the mat and in standing position (with or without the use of a chair or wall for balance). Beginner/Intermediate levels.

Intermediate Yoga Mix: A step up from Yoag Mix, this class requires participants to have prior yoga experience, or have participated in any Newu yoga class. We'll explore various styles of yoga based on participant input, and tailor the class each week to meet your needs using Hatha, Vinyasa and/or Ashtanga Yoga, and focus on breathing, relaxation, strength and flexibility. We'll move through poses without much explanation, so prior experience is required. Participants should feel comfortable working on the mat and in standing position (with or without the use of a chair or wall for balance). Intermediate/Advanced levels.

Chair Yoga: Improve your flexibility, strength and range of motion in this low-level yoga class. Designed for older adults and individuals with health problems, including inflexibility, we'll focus on learning basic yoga postures, breathing techniques and meditation for relaxation, all while seated in a chair. All levels welcome.

Intermediate Hatha Yoga: Continue your yoga journey as we focus on breathing, relaxation, strength and flexibility. Participants should be familiar with yoga poses and feel comfortable working on the mat and in standing position. No formal yoga experience necessary, but some knowledge of yoga is a plus. Advanced Beginner/Intermediate levels.

Mixed Pilates: Strengthen your core muscles and tone up all over in this mat Pilates class. Open to beginners and pilates veterans, this class offers a variety of levels and modifications so you can work at your own pace and ability. We also include a strength segment for toning arms. Beginner/Intermediate levels.

Power Pilates: BURN FAT and SCULPT YOUR ABS in this combination cardio and Pilates class! Using interval technique to burn more fat, push your heart rate up and down and stoke your metabolic fire, this class will help you achieve your summer fitness goals! Open to beginners and exercise veterans alike, this class offers a variety of levels and modifications so you can work at your own pace and ability. The Pilates portions will be mat-based (mats provided). Beginner/Intermediate levels.

50/50 Cardio/Strength Mix: Boost your Metabolism & burn calories with this 50% Cardio and 50% Strength Training class. By building muscle and burning fat, this class will give your metabolism a lift and help you tone up in time for swimsuit season! Cardio segment style will vary depending on class input, while strength training will target arms, legs, thighs, and abdominal muscles. Perfect for ALL levels of fitness. Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced levels.

Cardio Kickboxing: Get your boxing gloves on - this class packs a punch! Using moves inspired from boxing, this class incorporates punches, kicks and athletic conditioning to give you a full-body workout. Complete with resistance training and core work, cardio kickboxing will help you jump start your workout routine. Beginner/Intermediate level.

Beginning Step Aerobics: Ease your way into step aerobics with this beginner level class. We'll learn basic steps and minimal choreography, balanced with resistance training and core work to deliver a complete workout. Perfect for seniors, individuals new to exercise and moms-to-be.  Beginner/Intermediate level.

Intermediate Step Aerobics: Step it up and increase your fitness level, all while having fun! We'll take it up a notch with more steps, choreography, and intensity and impact modifications. Complete with resistance training and core work, this class will help you meet your fitness goals. Perfect for experienced steppers.

Low-Impact Aerobics: Get fit, have fun and stay grounded in this class where one foot will always be in contact with the floor. Complete with warm-up, cardio, resistance training and core work, you're whole body will thank you. Perfect for individuals with joint, back or knee problems. Beginner/Intermediate level.

Fitness Basics: Beginner & Beyond: Get fit, have fun and stay grounded in this class where one foot will always be in contact with the floor. Complete with cardio and strength training work, you are able to workout at the level of intensity and impact that feels right for you! With plenty of modifications for low, moderate and high impact and intensity, you'll fit right in! Perfect for individuals new to exercise, or those with joint, back or knee problems. Beginner/Intermediate levels.
